Sofitel Opens So Singapore, Lagerfeld Bathrobes and All

Just over a year after we first looked at the classic 1927 building on Robinson Road, Sofitel So Singapore has finally opened its doors this past weekend. We don’t think Choupette will be there to greet you in the lobby in the end, but the Lion’s Seal Karl Lagerfeld designed is around, down to an appearance on the hotel's bathrobes.
Those bathrobes are inside the 118 rooms and 6 suites, ranging from entry-level So Cosy Rooms (in the new So Hip Wing behind the original structure) to larger So Lofty Suites (above, with step-out balconies) and So VIP Suites. All are tricked out with Apple in-room technology, including iPad minis and iPhones.
We’re keen to see more of how the peekaboo bathrooms work out, but in a So Lofty there’s plenty of space with a dual vanity, separate shower, and what looks like a bathtub on legs. Downstairs is Xperience restaurant, but we’re expecting that one of the main draws will be Hi-So rooftop pool and bar.
During the first 100 days of the hotel you can get your hands on a SGD100 F&B credit with your room booking. We found a So Comfy Room with the F&B credit for SGD440 (about $351) a night on a Saturday later in June. Sofitel will be turning its attention to nearby Sentosa Island, where it will be revamping a resort hotel to join its city sister.
