The Union Jack Is Flying at Firmdale's Ham Yard, Opening June 1
Firmdale Hotels is so close to being ready to let us into its new flagship Ham Yard Hotel that the British Union Jack has already been raised above the entrance, in the quiet courtyard a block behind much less quiet Piccadilly Circus.
Having just walked by the hotel, things really are looking good for opening on June 1: we spotted some seating already out next to the entrance, as well as a glimpse of the Tony Cragg bronze sculpture that will be just in front (head over to Facebook to see more photos).
Looking at the hotel from Denman Street, it’s clear that the passageway into the courtyard from this side will be purely pedestrian, with two traditional bay windowed shops on either side. Given the work that was still ongoing on the other side, we wonder whether it will be possible to pull up to the entrance by car from Great Windmill Street – if so, it’ll be a tight turn.
We’ll take you inside Ham Yard as soon as we can; a closer look at the interiors can be found here. Rates start at £400 ($660) a night for a Superior Room.
