We've gushed about the inside of the Langham Chicago and now we're getting excited about the outside as the hotel rolls out a new al fresco dining spot that will send Chicago into a tizzy.

This summer, the hotel's fine-dining establishment, Travelle, will spin-off an outdoor restaurant on the banks of the Chicago River. Elle on the River will claim the open spot from the hotel to the river between State and Wabash and should be the hot-spot for visitors and locals alike all season. Tim Graham, the chef inside, will oversee the menu outside, filling it with Mediterranean-style tacos and refreshing punches for those lingering long lunches. Some dishes to choose from include tacos filled with chickpea to mahi mahi and chicken to braised pork shoulder

And if the temps aren't hot enough, chef has prepared some house-made hot sauces to kick up the spice. An apropos "rookie" sauce is perfect for beginners, where the "blazing" is for the more seasoned.

Summer wouldn't be summer without a little "cocktailing" so expect table-side boozy punch bowls. Think watermelon, basil and gin or strawberry, peach and vodka; yeah these will hit the spot. Even some home-made fruit sodas (blueberry, watermelon or raspberry) can be tipped with or without some added "spirit". There will also be options for non-alcoholic blends.

To top off a perfect outdoor lunch or dinner, Elle will be cooling off guests with mousse, custard, and cake-based desserts served in a cylinder to-go container with a lid and mini-wooden spoon. Take your pick from German chocolate cake, orange creamsicle or strawberry shortcake to appease that sweet-tooth.

Elle on the River will open this Thursday and will be open all summer long. So if you're looking for us in Chicago, you'll know where to find us.
