When we walked past Ham Yard Hotel last week, we could spot furniture behind the large factory-style windows, signalling Firmdale’s future flagship is making good progress. From the fabric on the chairs to the bold patterned curtains, there was no mistaking Kit Kemp’s style even from a distance, and now we have a whole set of images to back that up.

They come alongside a planned opening on June 1, which means we’re in the homestretch until the time we can check out the 91 bedrooms and suites, eat in the restaurant, drink at the bar, and knock over some pins in that bowling alley. Images show a number of different designs: from bold blue / yellow / white and a rich chocolate brown with gold and cream (above), to vibrant pink and purple and a more subdued grey (below). Reservations have also opened.

Playing around with online reservations, we can see three different room types (Superior, Luxury, Deluxe) and four suite types (Luxury Junior Suite, Deluxe Junior Suite, Courtyard Suite, and Terrace Suite). They start at 31 sq m (333 sq ft) for a Superior Room and run to 145 sq m (1560 sq ft) for a two-bedroom Terrace Suite.

WiFi is complimentary for all, which may or may not make the £400+ ($660+) lead-in rate slightly more palatable. A Terrace Suite will not give you much change from £6,000 ($9,950) a night.

Bathrooms mix granite and oak, with double vanities and from the Deluxe Room and up, both a separate shower and bathtub.

The hotel is built around a garden courtyard, with the restaurant and bar having outdoor seating as well – no doubt a hot ticket come summertime. A bronze sculpture by Tony Cragg will stand at the center of the garden. Hotel guests also have access to a rooftop garden that promises ‘sweeping views’ of London.

We’ll keep you posted as we learn more – perhaps by June, we’ll have ticked three of our six openings to watch for this year. Not a bad score if you ask us, but there is so much more to come.
