Yotel's New Restaurant Looks East and West

Futuristic pod hotels are dime a dozen these days, keeping brands on their toes. The Yotel New York is keeping things interesting by upping their dining offerings with a brand new restaurant.

East & West, a new dining and lounge concept from China Grill Management, opened in the hotel last week and features a menu by Executive Chef Bradley Day that features shareable small and large plates and pays homage to the best of the eastern and western worlds -- kinda like the hotel itself.

"East" dishes include Tori Dango Chicken Meatballs with crispy rice crust & spicy ponzu ($12); Kimchee Fried Rice with crispy fried egg ($11) and Miso Glazed Black Cod with Chinese broccoli ($16). Hile "West" offerings include Crab Stuffed Deviled Eggs with blue crab & horseradish mustard ($6); Swine Candy prepared from spiced & candied Smithfield bacon ($6) and Chicken Liver Crostini with fig chutney ($9).

The East-West theme extends to the cocktail list prepared by on-staff mixologist Steve Magliano. From the West: Paddington Punch - Appleton estate rum, orange marmalade, cinnamon & lime served on the rocks; Coco Maya - Patrón Silver tequila, Kai Young Coconut Shochu, Amaro Ciociaro, cacao nibs & mole bitters with a salt & ancho pepper rim. From the East: Tsunami- Nori-infused Beluga vodka & citrus brine with black lumpfish caviar kettle chip; Japanese Maple- Yamazaki Japanese Whiskey, apple, maple syrup & lemon served on the rocks with a swine candy garnish.

There's more to come from the hotel later this year, too. The former Dojo restaurant space will re-launch this spring as a private events and function space, and The Terrace will soon be announcing a new programming line-up starting this spring and featuring a rotating list of events and activities.
