If youíve been to Tokyo, you know itís possible to go from historic serenity in one of its temples to futuristic frenzy among its skyscrapers in a split-second. That proximity of the traditional and modern comes through at the Peninsula Tokyo as well; pick the right aspect and you can gaze out from your technology-filled room over the Imperial Palace, and when itís time for a ride in the house car, your options range from a restored 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II to a very 21st century Audi R8 sports car.

Both cars are painted the signature Peninsula Brewster Green, as is the rest of the fleet, which includes two Rolls-Royce Extended Wheelbase Phantoms, two BMW 750Lis, and two MINI Cooper S Clubmans.

The Rolls-Royces and BMWs are complimentary within a two-kilometer radius of the hotel (first come, first serve). Want to try the R8? You need to be 26 years or older and hold a valid Japanese or international driverís license and cough up JPY 12,000 (about $118) an hour, which includes tax and gas (the car is available between 8:00am and 10:00pm). Half of that goes to the Tyler Foundation, a charity chosen by Audi Japan dedicated to improving the lives of children with cancer and their families.

Suite guests can use one of the chauffeur-driven MINIs for up to three hours (again, first come, first serve) between 10:30am and 7:30pm within a ten-kilometer radius of the hotel.

A Deluxe Room at Peninsula Tokyo starts at around JPY50,000 ($490) a night in May.
