Hotels Are Going Nuts For Pie on Pi Day

If you’re not only a hotel geek but kinda a science geek too, you probably already know that March 14 is Pi Day (because the mathematical constant π, or Pi, which is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, is approximately equal to 3.14, but with 1.2 trillion digits after it).

If you didn’t know that, you might want to know this: Some hotels are using this as an excuse to bring out their best pies for the occasion. And who doesn’t like a nice pie?

The Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC is offering a scrumptious-looking Apple Pi Tartlet (that's it above) that’s made with 3 Pi (9.42) Granny Smith apples. The tartlet is topped with decorative apples made of white chocolate—can you stand it?

Montage Deer Valley in Park City, Utah is, quite literally, shaking things up for Pi Day by creating its own version of a local favorite – Bumbleberry Pie. The hotel will be serving a Bumbleberry Pie Shake, which includes an entire slice of pie folded into an oversized glass. If you want to adult it up, they’ll add a spike of Absolut Berri Acai for ya.

Sedona, Arizona’s Enchantment Resort is offering their variation of Warm Apple Cobbler: a buttery cream cheese dough filled with a spiced apple filling, topped with cinnamon streusel, and served with crème fraiche ice cream and blueberry compote.

The Omni Bedford Springs Resort in Bedford, Penn. is celebrating Pi Day by serving up a trio of mini pies, all of which will be 3.14” in diameter—both cute AND clever. The trio will consist of a Shoofly Pie, Apple Pie, and Crack Pie (and yes--feel free to insert your own Toronto Mayor Rob Ford crack(!) here).
