The second location of the upscale brand makes a pilgrimage to Plymouth.

There’s more than an ocean between Plymouth and Paris. Yes, the Massachusetts city holds a pretty important place in history. (Which, if you passed seventh grade, you hopefully recall involves a very important boat crash-landing on a very famous rock.)

But with all due respect to the Pilgrims’ first stomping grounds, most people would probably choose a vacation sipping wine by the river Seine than pounding beers in a South Shoh-wuh bah.

But when it opens in June, The Mirbeau Inn & Spa at The Pinehills (a rendering seen here) may offer the area’s best approximation to a French getaway.

Like its sister property in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, the Plymouth Mirbeau is modeled in the style of a romantic country manor house and inspired by the Impressionist art of Claude Monet: think picturesque grounds with covered wooden bridges, waterfalls, lush gardens, placid ponds, and grounds filled with beret-wearing French hens strutting with cigarettes in their beaks and baguettes tucked under their wings. (Okay, everything but the last, obviously. Birds are notoriously anti-smoking.)

The 50 guest rooms will be furnished with fireplaces and claw-foot bathtubs, imbuing little bit of Marie Antoinette-style glamour. And from the main manor house (with its own library and wine bar/bistro) to its 5,000-square feet of event space (including an intimate Chapel for intimate gatherings and weddings) the property will boast a number of rare French antiques, some dating back to the 18th century.

Though Francophiles will probably “tomber amoureux” with Mirbeau, it will also be an exceptionally exciting place for golf lovers. It overlooks the 18th hole of Pinehills Golf Club’s Rees Jones Course, so wannabe Tiger Woods will be in perfect proximity to stellar greens.

Though you won’t need a Woods-sized paycheck, a stay at Mirbeau won’t come cheap, either – particularly by Plymouth standards. The property is now accepting reservations for its June 15th opening, and rates start at around $1,300 per night for its first weekend.

Two packages are already available: the “Bienvenue Weekend” for two, which includes breakfast, spa treatments and champagne, starts $1,130 per room package ($1,435 for suites). While the “Bienvenue Midweek,” a similar arrangement but sans spa, starts at $345 per night. We just hope if they are commanding those types of prices, that the rooms look WAY better than what they are showing on their website which is this:
