citizenM Shoreditch follows the brand’s concept of having modular bedrooms constructed elsewhere and arriving fully complete to be craned in place – based on the renderings below they look exactly like we know them from the existing hotel behind Tate Modern.
The hotel will be located in the Shoreditch Village development, with shops, a café, and restaurant set in what is called a ‘plinth’ structure, referencing the demolished Kingsland Viaduct (we’re guessing that means the lower two floors you see in the rendering above). The stacking of the hotel rooms on top in turns links to the tube carriages that are placed on top of another viaduct (on Great Eastern Street) nearby.
With 900 rooms coming in, we sure hope citizenM will stick to its affordable style ethos and keep rates hovering around the £100 ($167) mark.
