The renovation brings a new, light-filled, look and feel to the guest room corridors and 127 sleeping rooms with new furniture, lighting, draperies, and carpets for all. Artfully scaled, custom designed furniture made of rosewood opens up the space and provides a warm visual pop against freshly painted white walls (say goodbye to that pea soup-colored paint in the before pic). Textured wall treatments feature a cool, grey tweed pattern, and plush midnight blue carpets a wavy, organic grey grid pattern. In the junior suites what resembled your grandpa's sofa has made way for lovely cool fog grey upholstered sofas.
The hotel's tech cred has been overhauled too: the entire hotel has been upgraded with a fiber optic network that, rather than copper wire, uses glass strands to transmit data at the speed of light, resulting in download speeds of up to 100 MB per second (WiFi is normally $9.50 a day, but you can get it free by becoming a Stash Rewards member, or by booking directly through Facebook, Twitter, Yelp or TripAdvisor).
In addition to blazing fast internet service, every room now has a desk equipped with Teleadapt charging ports featuring USB, tablet and standard outlets,as well as I-Home Bluetooth clock radios and new wall mounted 40”and 44” Samsung HD TV Performance Line televisions with Comcast HD service. The hotel also recently collaborated with Intel Labs to create the #LuciaWallPDX interactive Instagram installation.
Updating the guest room floors is the first phase of a full renovation of Hotel Lucia that is slated to be completed this year. Phase two will include renovation of the lobby, meeting rooms and all public space.
Rates at Hotel Lucia start at $229 a night.
