MO Bar + Lounge Opens inside Mandarin Oriental Miami
For travelers that like to arrive in style, raise your glass to the new MO Bar + Lounge, now open inside Mandarin Oriental in Miami. (And by arrive in style, we mean you would not make an entrance with sandy sandals -- it was SOBEWFF weekend!--like we did.)
We stopped by five-star hotel during the daytime (before the bar’s official opening) and found guests in resort wear and collared shirts that matched the “relaxed, yet polished” surroundings of MO Bar + Lounge.
Located just down the hall of the hotel’s main entrance, the lounge is partitioned off by tall wooden sticks, with a 14-seat bar in the center, and surrounded by comfy velvet chairs that are easy to sink into after a couple cocktails. The MO Bar + Lounge concept will be joined soon by the new restaurant, La Mar by Gaston Acurio which replaces the oldCafe Sambai restaurant.)
Our favorite part of the lounge was its floor-to-ceiling windows. Standing 30 feet high, the windows fill the room with natural light (or city lights) and 180 degrees of waterfront and Miami skyline views. We recommend grabbing a seat at a high top near the windows for an exceptional view of the bay and the yachts floating past.
During the day, the lounge is a serene setting, but in the evening, MO enlists in a live band (as evidenced by a classy-looking piano in the corner of the lounge) to energize the room with jazz and Latin music.
Patrons will find that the lounge very much reflects the look and feel of its parent hotel, understated yet chic with luxe details. Now that there are cocktails (Caipirinha and French Martinis included) and live music in the mix, all we have to say is, “Salute!”
The MO Bar + Lounge is open from 11:30am to 12am (Sun- Wed) and 11:30am to 1am (Thu-Sat)
