The Dean Hotel is Open for Business
Just open, The Dean Hotel hits all the current trends. Masculine name? Check. Painfully hip Instagram account? Check. Bunk beds? Uh-huh. Strip club turned hotel? Yep, that too. Only this hip new hotel is not in Brooklyn or Manhattan, but, a little unexpectedly, in Providence, Rhode Island.
Located in Providence's historic Downcity district, the five-story brick building occupied by the 52-room hotel has lived a full life, having housed both a church and a strip club (not at the same time). The Dean has eight different room categories, from a "Kin" room with a single bunk bed that starts at $79, to "The Gang" with two queen-sized beds starting at $119, to "The Heights," which has four connected guest rooms, two king suites and two queen rooms, on the top floor (starts at $500). All feature locally designed bespoke furnishings with a few antique finds thrown in.
On-site facilities include a German-style beer hall, a cafe serving local artisanal Bolt coffee and a cocktail lounge named the Magdalenae Room. Guests can also borrow refurbished vintage bicycles to zip around town on. Our most-anticipated feature, though, is The Boombox karaoke room, which will open late February/early March. We're tempted to make a road-trip up to RI for this hotel alone.
