Starck's Yoo Hotels Gets Going With Yoo2 Taksim Square In Istanbul

The answer to our question when Philippe Starcks yoo Hotels would make its debut is here: January 2014. Just last week, yoo2 Taksim Square opened the doors to its 59 rooms and suites in the heart of Istanbul, across from Gezi Park.
Yoo2 is the more affordable of two yoo Hotel brands, with yoo Collection aimed at the luxury market. While we heard last year that Acqua Boracay in the Philippines would be the first yoo Collection hotel to open (in 2015), it is not listed in the directory of upcoming hotels, though a separate website is very much up and running. Additional projects include will include yoo Collection Lepang, Bali, yoo Collection in the British Cotswolds, and yoo2 Sinapati, Jakarta - all scheduled for 2016.
As for yoo2 Taksim Square, first guestroom pictures show uncluttered design with dark hardwood floors, streamlined headboards, and walls in shades of grey. WiFi is free in all rooms. Rooms start at Classic Double or Twin, going up to Park Superior for a view of Gezi Park, and through to Corner Bosphorus or Bosphorus Deluxe for gazing at the strait that separates Europe and Asia out your window. A Family Suite gives you a bit of added space and a sofa bed.
A restaurant on the ground floor serves a mix of Turkish and international dishes, and the bar serves drinks and traditional Turkish coffee, including the Istanbul 4 Yoo2, which throws in intriguing ingredients like chestnut syrup and almond dragees.
We found Classic Rooms at yoo2 Taksim Square from about 130 ($178) a night in February and March.
