A Swim-Up Bar is Coming to—Wait For It— Wisconsin
The polar vortex has been rough. So rough, the Midwest deserves a little something summery to look forward to. Something with blended drinks, paper umbrellas, and underwater bar stools. That's right, folks: a swim-up bar is coming to Wisconsin Dells.
The Wilderness Resort— proudly billed as "America's largest Water Resort"—is getting several new amenities in time for its summer season. First thing's first, though—here's what we know about that watery watering hole:
Dubbed Margarita's Swim-Up Bar (because, why not?) the 1,400-square-foot, indoor/outdoor bar will seat 88 guests. And all of them better have proper I.D. The adults-only spot will have a tropical theme, a pergola, and—we think this is safe to assume?— plenty of tequila on hand. The bar is slated to open in May.
By summertime, the resort will get a two-story Go-Karts trail (don't try to navigate this after more than one margarita) and a family-friendly laser-tag arena. Plus, a new boardwalk area will sling casual eats such as frozen yogurt and pizza, while a spot called "Klondike Kate's Libations" will save you from getting too thirsty.
But let's get back to that swim-up bar. Dying to do the doggie paddle while tipsy? Rates for the first weekend in May range from about $117 to $127 a night.
