Peter Poon Takes Manhattan

We were perhaps a little hasty yesterday when we declared Gene Kaufman king of the NYC hotel design scene. He has some stiff company from another unflagging architect: Peter Poon

Poon's latest project is a 313-room, 21-story hotel at 132 West 27th Street on the site of what is currently a Chelsea parking garage, almost exactly two blocks up from Lam Group's Antique's Garage conversion. Poon is already at work on the Hyatt Place Times Square on 41st Street, as well as the Hotel Bowery and another Chinatown hotel at 75 East Broadway, and a Fairfield Inn at South Street Seaport. His website is also listing a "Sharma Hotel" in the Garment District, which we're not sure of details on. There's no stopping these two men.
