Scrolling through the in-room television programming at The Quin the other day, something caught our eye. Not the $12 gourmet peanuts on the list of provisions, nor the in-room menu of luxury items from the lobby's Bergdorf Goodman Vitrine, but something a little less grandiose. A charming tale of a girl and her new friend, as told by her dog, Peppermint, "a fun-loving, fast-talking teacup Yorkie".

The kids' story tells of Katie's arrival to the Quin, running down all the highlights of the recently opened hotel, "the ceilings were glittery and sparkly, what I imagine a princess would have in her castle", and the services of the Quin's dedicated Attaché (who can handle all those pesky reservations and activities for you). The lucky dog even gets its own Duxiana bed. As the story progresses, the gang have a perfect day in New York City and the hotel gets to rep its Attaché once again: "it only takes a wish, and an Attaché will make that wish come true.”

A stuffed Peppermint the Yorkshire Terrier is given to kids as a welcome amenity with the story book on day of arrival. The toy is from Webkinz and has an attached tag with a “Secret Code” printed on it that allows access to the "Webkinz World” website where the user can own a virtual version of the pet for online play. At turndown, housekeeping will tuck the stuffed animal in bed with a note.

And if you have a real life Peppermint of your own, the Quin allows dogs of up to 40 pounds with a personalized doggy bowl, blanket and treats. We found late January rates at The Quin starting at $499 for a Premier Queens with two Queen beds.

Disclosure: We (seriously) won a night at The Quin by entering a competition on their Facebook page.
