This morning we spent some time updating the Master Openings List but there's one update we're really intrigued by--The Baha Mar Resort, opening in December in the Bahamas with no less than FIVE different hotel brands inside. We knew it was gonna be big but this is crazy big.

In total, the complex, nicknamed the "Bahamian Riviera", will have a total of 2,900 hotel rooms and residences, a 100,000 square foot casino, an 18-hole, 72-par Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, an ESPA spa and more than a dozen pools. Plus, a 200,000 square feet convention center. We know, insane!

Of course, we're most interested in the hotels that will open and it's quite a mix. The five resorts are as follows:

Baha Mar Casino & Hotel: The centerpiece resort of Baha Mar, this casino-hotel is promising a "Vegas-like" experience in the Bahamas.

Rosewood Baha Mar: This will be a 200-room and residences property managed by Rosewood. A main attraction will be the villas accommodations. And of course, all the luxury items and services that Rosewood is known for.

Mondrian Baha Mar: For those seeking a little more action design during their stay, the Mondrian at Baha Mar will have 300 "distinctively styled rooms." No doubt some interesting F&B concepts will also be on-site.

Grand Hyatt Baha Mar: Can't swing uber-luxury or design? Consider the Grand Hyatt which will have 700 "incomparable rooms blending authenticity and luxury."

Meliá Baha Mar: The Meliá brand actually took over the existing Nassau Beach Resort on December 1st but will be incorporated into the Baha Mar complex when it finishes its renovations this December.

Looks like there will be something for everyone. According to a comment on Baha Mar's Facebook page, you will be able to make reservations starting this summer. We call dibs on a Rosewood villa! Sayonara, Atlantis!

Melia hotel at Baha Mar

Melia actually took over the Sheraton in December (see: http://hospitalitybusinessnews.com/20131114157/starwood-pulls-sheraton-brand-from-nassau) The Nassau Beach Resort was torn down a few years ago. Also there is the Wyndham which sits between the Melia and the "new" Baha Mar hotels which no one seems to mention.

According to this press release from Baha Mar, it says: "On December 1, 2013, Meliá will take over the operation of the Meliá NassauBeach Resort. The Meliá Nassau Beach Resort, featuring 694 rooms and multiple spaces for meetings and conventions, will be executing a renewal plan that will be completed by December 2014, without any interruption to the guest experience."
