Kit Kemp Spills More Details On NYC's New Firmdale Hotel
Our love for the Crosby Street Hotel is fairly well documented, so, when we heard that London-based Firmdale Hotels would be opening a second NYC property, you could say we were rather excited.
Our excitement was tempered only by the lack of information about the hotel under construction at 20 West 56th Street, but Kit Kemp spilled a few details to Travel Weekly last month.
Kemp states that the new 90-room property will be "all-new build similar in style to Crosby Street Hotel, with the large, warehouse-style windows rising to 15 stories". Some suites will have private terraces and facilities will include another screening room (there's already one at Crosby Street.)
As we speculated back in July, it sounds like Kemp will be drawing inspiration for the new hotel from her surroundings. The Crosby's elevator dog tribute was inspired by SoHo neighbors walking their dogs, she says. "It was an inspiration. I think the hotel should offer a different world to the outside one. However, it should also be part of, and reflect, the village community".
No word yet on rates but with Crosby Street going for upwards of $700 a night, you can expect the new Firmdale hotel to be just as swish.
