The new property, designed by (that man again) Gene Kaufman, has 132 guestrooms and suites spread over eight stories, as well as a landscaped courtyard, guest lounge, restaurant and bar, fitness center, meeting facilities and free WiFi. Better yet, it is within spitting distance of the F, J, and M Trains, and a short walk from the New Museum and Lower East Side Tenement Museum -- not to mention all the fun of the LES.
But is it cool enough for the Lower East Side?
Not longer after opening, the Lo-Down NY sent a couple of reporters in to get the, well, low-down. Here's what they made of the vibe of their "tiny" room:
The small space had a boutique vibe that’d had the cool kicked out of it. Corporate America just can’t do hip. But they gave it a good try.
We found midweek September rates starting at $308 for a King Standard. For comparison, $450 would get you a Regular King at THOR, on the same date, and $469 would get you a Queen Superior at the Thompson LES.
