Homewood Suites is Coming to Manhattan
Uhhh...yeah, we hope put a little New York twist on this guestroom.
Hard to believe that in New York City, the city that has everything, there is a hotel chain that has not already entered the market: Homewood Suites by Hilton.
But that should change early next year when the Homewood Suites New York City Midtown Manhattan opens up on 37th Street/8th Avenue, three blocks from Penn Station. The site is the former home of a parking lot, which had reportedly been owned by the same family since around the Civil War and, in previous lives, housed horses and an embalming business. Back in 2011, The Wall Street Journal reported on its purchase for $21 million by "a venture of the Albanese Organization Inc. and the Buccini/Pollin Group Inc."
The Gene Kaufman-designed property will offer 293 residential-style suites, all with at least two beds, and kitchens equipped with full-size refrigerators, cook tops, microwaves, coffee makers, and dishwashers.
On top of that, guests are promised "blazing fast" free WiFi, a complimentary "Suite Start" hot breakfast daily and a "Welcome Home" dinner and drinks Monday through Thursday. On-site amenities will also include a fitness center, laundry facility, and sundry store.
Yet while Homewood Suites are typically tres affordable, this is NYC where a Holiday Inn can cost $300 a night. So be prepared for a price jump.
