Opening This Month: New Hotels for October 2013
Finding a hotel room is easy. Simply go on the Internet or use your smartphone and voila! You're booked.
But if you are only interested in new hotels, then that's a different story. Luckily, you have us. And we're obsessed with new hotels. Here's a list of what hotels are opening this month (and a few that are changing brands as well.) Got a new hotel to add? Send it to us!
HOTELS OPENING IN OCTOBER 2013
Thompson Chicago: The first Pomeranc-free hotel will open tomorrow on October 2nd. Rates start at $289 a night. (To be fair, Jason Pomeranc and co. did help design and develop the hotel so their presence is very much alive in the hotel.)
Hard Rock Palm Springs: The desert will be rocking on October 4th when the Hotel Zoso gets transformed into the Hard Rock Palm Springs. Rates start at $159 a night. AAA members can flash their membership card and save $10.
Sparrows Hotel Palm Springs: A more mellow alternative will also open in Palm Springs on October 8th. Read about here. Rates start at $175 and breakfast and WiFi are included.
Viceroy New York : Viceroy's long-awaited flagship NYC debut will happen on October 9th. The rugged (in a refined way of course) guestrooms are just steps away from Central Park. Rates start at $479 a night on opening night.
Qbic London City: As we told you yesterday, rooms at the stylish pod hotel will start under $100 and that includes WiFi and breakfast. The hotel will open on October 19th.
The Quin: The long-awaited renovation and rebranding of the old Buckingham Hotel near Central Park on the corner of 57th and 6th Avenue will culminate in a grand opening on October 21st. Rates start at $599 a night. Go here to see the best room to book.

HOTEL REBRANDINGS IN OCTOBER 2013
Powerscourt Hotel: The former Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt got downgraded to an Autograph Collection Hotel but it will remain an "an up-scale independent luxury hotel." And it's still within the Marriott family so your Marriot Rewards points are still good here. The transition happens today, October 1st. Here's the new website. Rates start at $290 US a night this weekend.
Rosewood London: Formerly the Chancery Court Hotel, this property will bloom into the Rosewood London on October 15. Rates start at around $700 for a deluxe king, excluding taxes and fees. The good news is the place has been completely renovated. Take a look here.
Hotel Eden Rome: As we reported earlier last month, Dorchester Collection has indeed made a move for Le Méridien Hotel Eden Rome on September 18th. The hotel now goes by the name Hotel Eden. So not much has changed. We found rooms in two weeks for $425 US a night.
The Omni Nashville: The Music City "game-changer" (as Omni calls it) just opened on September 30th. It has 800 rooms, a signature Mokara spas, a rooftop pool deck and five culinary and entertainment venues, including a steak & chop house and fittingly, a live music space. There's also a super cool retail store called Five and TENN which we'll have more info on soon.
