The new bar is housed under the hotel lobby’s grand staircase, was designed by Champalimaud and features red lacquer walls inset with embossed leather panels, curved tufted leather banquettes, sleek chocolate-brown leather lounge chairs, and some very dark, moody lighting. A long curved stretch of liquid metal forms the bar and directly behind it there's a floor-to-ceiling glowing wine display, and some snazzily dressed bartenders. The pooch-princess would surely approve.
Trouble’s little paw print is embossed on the cocktail menu's list, which offers a selection of specialty hand-crafted cocktails that are said to use locavore ingredients, and include such homage-paying libations as the “Queen of Mean,” made with Breuckelen NY Wheat Whiskey, Ginger Bee NY, Red Jacket NY Apple Juice and Averall Damson Gin; and “The Pampered Pooch,” with Owney's rum, B&B, Cocchi Bianco, lime juice, simple syrup and creole bitters (all specialty cocktails are $19.)
If you get into too much trouble with Trouble and can't make it home, rates at the hotel start at $309 a night this weekend.
