Got a Problem with Your Hotel Reservation? FaceTime With Starwood About It
Cannily timed to coincide with the launch of iOS 7 on Wednesday, Starwood has launched an all new iPad app aimed at members of its loyalty program, Starwood Preferred Guest.
The new app, which was built from scratch to run on the iOS 7, was created in response to a massive increase in mobile traffic for Starwood, and launched simultaneously in Chinese.
The company has optimized more than 50,000 images of their properties for iPad retina display, with the result that scrolling through the app is just like flipping through your favorite glossy travel magazine, except that you can make a reservation without leaving the app -- and with just one click, if you've preloaded your information.
New features include a "Stay Mode" where the look of the app changes 48 hours before a scheduled reservation to reflect the property (and region) you will be visiting; an integrated Foursquare map, and pop-up, unfiltered reviews.
Our favorite, however is the 24-hour FaceTime support function. No matter the time or place, if you have a problem with a booking, you'll be able to talk it through with someone face to face -- well, through a screen, of course.
The SPG Starwood Hotels & Resorts app for iPad is available to download free from iTunes.
