Brandman also told us that a name announcement for the new brand will happen in a few weeks. (We've heard whispers that it will drop as early as September 19th.) This new name and brand will include the flagship hotel, 60 Thompson, (which Brandman said is also about to begin renovations), the Hotel Victor in South Beach, The Thompson Beverly Hills, The Thompson LES and 6 Columbus.
Not content with waiting a few weeks, we hit up the trusty old U.S. Trademarks search engine and found Civilian Hotels registered to a company with an address that sits next door to 60 Thompson. Of course, this could mean nothing. This may just be one of the names that they are trying out. Or it could be just a cover for snooping eyes like ours. Or like, it could be the actual name of the new hotel brand. We'll find out soon enough.
Whatever the new name will be, as per terms of the separation from Commune, the above hotels will still be managed by Commune for the next four and a half months. After that, the Pomeranc brothers and Brandman can go wild doing what they do. And hopefully, we'll have front row seats.
