Starwood Hotels to Bring a Dual-Hotel to Queens

It wasn't too long ago that we wondered aloud: when are we getting more Element Hotels?

While we had already been told that the eco-conscious brand was making its way into Flushing, Queens, of all unexpected places, we were pretty floored to hear today that the new property will be a dual-hotel development alongside Starwood stablemate Four Points by Sheraton.

It also wasn't long ago that we wrote about Starwood premiering its first upscale dual hotel in Charlotte, so it seems like the brand is fully committing to this ever-growing trend.

The development is said to be located 10 minutes from La Guardia (handy) and that the two brands will share a 24-hour fitness center and heated indoor pool. The Four Points by Sheraton Flushing side will have 178 guest rooms, 1,585 square feet of meeting space and dining service, while the Element Flushing will offer 118 rooms, a select-service restaurant and 1,015 square feet of flexible meeting space with modular furnishings and a flexible layout.

Starwood is aiming for a September 2015 opening and, though we can't speculate on rates yet, senior VP Brian McGuinness says:

“Travelers will enjoy two fresh options at an affordable price point, within close proximity of numerous New York City attractions.”
