Everyone we've hit up for more info is staying mum right now. From what we can deduce, the hotel was waiting on some final approval from the city. But that was back in May and we're not sure what the outcome was. We've also heard there are some issues with the employee unions but we can't get a straight answer on that either.
Whatever the issues are, we hope they work 'em out soon. The Clark, which will have nearly 400 hotel rooms and a rooftop pool, looks rather cool and it's in a less scary neighborhood than the Ace. Nearby, within actual walking distance, is the Angels Flight funicular aka "The Shortest Railway in the World", the outdoor concert center that is Pershing Square Park, and the Grand Central Market which houses a bunch of food stalls from pupuserias to coffee, cheese, bbq and Chinese food. A hotel this close to food, concerts and a funicular just HAS to happen. It has to.
