No? Well, it was all the way back in 2011, so no worries. There’s been a year of Royal Baby since then. But we’re giving the 5-second refresher course because drum roll…the Great House on Necker Island will be fully rebuilt and ready to welcome guests once again as of September.
Not all guests, mind you—only those who can afford $60,000 per night, with a 7-night minimum.
Necker Island has always been Branson’s Caribbean sanctuary…not only the place he goes to vacation, but the one out of all his many ventures that is completely luxury, not besmirched by an iota of cheesy marketing tactics, and absolutely not for the masses. It’s a house-party hideaway for the elite. Between the Great House, the six “Bali Houses” elsewhere on the island, and the children’s bunkroom adjacent to the main house, it sleeps 36 people. And for most of the weeks in the year, the only people allowed to be on the island are those who can rent out the entire thing, for a week.
For anyone who’s like, “I want to vacation like Richard Branson, but I don’t have 30 friends, and I should probably spend my quarter-million dollars on my OWN house payment,” well, there’s still a way for you to breathe the same island air the great man has breathed. (Perhaps not at the same time, but still...) Ask the reservations specialist (toll-free 0800 716 919) for the dates of upcoming “Celebration Weeks.” These are weeks when shorter stays and single-unit bookings are possible.
