Rum is king is Puerto Rico, so it's no surprise they take a martini and twist it up, island style. This one's a cinch to mix up at home, but once again, don't let the sweetness fool you. A few of these and you'll be trying to salsa to inappropriate songs.
1 ½ parts Bacardi Big Apple Rum
¾ parts apple pucker
Add all ingredients into a shaker, fill with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled martini glass and present with a thin slice of green apple.
The Drink: Sunset Passion Colada
The Hotel: Marriott Frenchman's Reef and Morning Star Beach Resort, St Thomas, USVI
This aptly named drink is served at this cliffside resort's open-air Sunset Grill, one of the best places to watch the sun dip below the harbor. If you feel like breaking out your blender, try to recreate the frozen cocktail at home with this recipe:
Recipe: Sunset Passion Colada
1oz of Bacardi Gold Rum
1oz of Passion fruit puree
1oz of Pina Colada mix
¼oz of Passion fruit mix
½ cup of ice
Pour rum, pina colada mix, passion fruit mix, passion fruit puree and ice in a blender. Blend until ice is completely crushed and ingredients are fully combined. Once blended, add a splash of dark rum and Bacardi select float for presentation and color.
