Beat the Big Apple Heat at These NYC Pools

Hôtel Americano's La Piscine is the place to see and be seen, with its trendy Chelsea Riviera location.

The whining in New York City is at an all-time high. Seems like folks just can't handle the July heat. From Twitter to Facebook and all points in between, the cries about the temperatures are soaring as high as the humidity.

While some folks are lucky enough to escape to the Hamptons for a bit of relief, not everyone has that option. So, in the spirit of tradition, we've come up with a few hotels that are allowing non-guests to enjoy their rooftop pools.

New York does it right with parties and yummy, cold drinks to go along with their cool-down experience, so hopefully this will help cease the moaning and groaning. You know, until winter comes and there's complaints that it's too cold. Sheesh!

La Piscine is the rooftop pool at Grupo Habitat's Hôtel Americano in Chelsea. Cozy cabanas and daybeds surround the space, which makes it the ultimate chill-out spot for stressed-out New Yorkers. Plus, the view of the High Line and the mezcal menu don't hurt, either. Call 212-525-0000 for reservations if you're not a guest.

Every Saturday and Sunday starting at 3pm, JIMMY at The James hotel offers pool parties for guests which includes specialty cocktails like the Grilled Pineapple Mojito, food by David Burke (tuna tartare tacos!) and a live DJ. If you happen to play hooky during the week, or are on vaca, take advantage of the teak bedecked pool when its available for guests only and chill on the plush chaise lounges. Guests can also take advantage of the free poolside yoga classes, which we recently mentioned.

The Holiday Inn New York City - Midtown's rooftop pool is free for hotel guests, but for those who don't have reservations, $75 gets you access to a refreshing dip for the day and views of the Chrysler Building to boot.

The Gansevoort Park Avenue has had its fair share of drama in the past when it comes to its rooftop pool scene. But the company must have made nice with neighbors because they're still partying it up. Both the Park Avenue and the Meatpacking District properties have a few offers this summer, for those who don't have a cool off spot to call their own.
Gansevoort Meatpacking: SUNDAY SUMMER SPLASH
This weekly party at the Plunge Rooftop features 360-degree views of the Hudson River and Manhattan, indoor and outdoor terrace seating and a fully landscaped garden. The all-day soiree begins at 2:00pm for guests and then non-guests can come in at 6 pm. Guest DJs spin house music and signature drinks such as the Mango Lime Ricky and Grapefruit Cosmo are served.
Gansevoort Park Avenue: SUNDAY DAY PARTY:
Every Sunday from 7:00-10:00pm non-hotel guests to access the entire tri-level rooftop complex, and sample the hotel's new Park Avenue Punch spiked slushy while aquasizing to the sounds of the DJ.
Every Wednesday from 5:00 – 10:00pm the rooftop pool will be open to the public with special table packages starting at $100 which include food and beverage for up to four people. View of the Empire State Building from the mosaic-tiled pool is free!
