NYLO Nyack Will Open In 2014 With Its Own Radio Station

NYLO NYC isn't even open yet, and already we're being blindsided with reports of a second NYLO hotel opening in New York, this time 40 minutes north of Manhattan, in the Rockland County village of Nyack.

Considered Nyack's first loft-style boutique hotel, NYLO Nyack will be walking distance from the Hudson River, making it an ideal spot for those exploring the scenic region via boat, bike*, or car. In fact, NYLO diehards might even consider a NYLO-hopping expedition, starting off in Manhattan, heading north up to Nyack, and ending up (after a substantial 3-hour car journey) at NYLO's original East Coast property, NYLO Warwick.

The hotel will have 132 rooms, as well as a full-service restaurant, bar, lounge with an outdoor patio, pool, fitness center, and library. Interestingly, the hotel will also have its own music studio flanked by a live radio broadcasting booth. This makes us wonder if the hotel is planning to start its own NYLO radio station, or could this just be a space rented out to another local station? Hmm…

NYLO is banking on an upswing in Nyack tourism, which is likely going to happen, thanks to a few key factors. First off, it's only 25 miles north of NYC, making it a perfect distance for city-dwellers (or city-bound tourists) looking for a little fresh air and change of scenery. Second, the Hudson Valley town is already home to a number of restaurants, shops, art galleries, the Edward Hopper House Art Center, and Nyack Beach State Park—not to mention plenty of biking trails.

Last but not least, there is a $3.9 billion project currently underway to replace the Tappan Zee Bridge by 2017, which will result in easier access for cars, bikers, and pedestrians heading over the river.

The hotel itself will be housed in a four-story former factory—which, similar to NYLO NYC, will give the rooms and public spaces a worn-in, industrial feel. Many rooms will face directly towards the Hudson River, and feature custom-designed furniture as well as original artwork by local artists.

NYLO Nyack is scheduled to open in 2014.

*So popular is the area among cyclists that the hotel has already started planning a "Tour de NYLO" package offering dinner and an overnight stay to guests cycling up from NYLO NYC.
