NYLO is banking on an upswing in Nyack tourism, which is likely going to happen, thanks to a few key factors. First off, it's only 25 miles north of NYC, making it a perfect distance for city-dwellers (or city-bound tourists) looking for a little fresh air and change of scenery. Second, the Hudson Valley town is already home to a number of restaurants, shops, art galleries, the Edward Hopper House Art Center, and Nyack Beach State Park—not to mention plenty of biking trails.
Last but not least, there is a $3.9 billion project currently underway to replace the Tappan Zee Bridge by 2017, which will result in easier access for cars, bikers, and pedestrians heading over the river.
The hotel itself will be housed in a four-story former factory—which, similar to NYLO NYC, will give the rooms and public spaces a worn-in, industrial feel. Many rooms will face directly towards the Hudson River, and feature custom-designed furniture as well as original artwork by local artists.
NYLO Nyack is scheduled to open in 2014.
*So popular is the area among cyclists that the hotel has already started planning a "Tour de NYLO" package offering dinner and an overnight stay to guests cycling up from NYLO NYC.
