Where To Stay Now That SCOTUS Has Made Your Day

June 26, 2013 at 11:35 AM | by | Comments (0)

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS if you will) has just smacked down the Defense of Marriage Act, saying the 1996 law which denies federal benefits to married same-sex couples is unconstitutional. That means the U.S. can now "immediately" extend some federal benefits to same-sex couples. Woot!

While this doesn't change any state laws regarding same sex marriage, it still is a major victory for gay rights. And what better way to celebrate than with a hotel stay? :) Here are four getaways to consider:

· RITZ-CARLTON, WASHINGTON DC: Celebrate the landmark decision in our nation's capitol at the Ritz-Carlton with their OUT in DC Pride Package. It includes: overnight deluxe room accommodations, a donation made in your honor to the Human Rights Campaign, two welcome cocktails, a Pride Weekend "Survival Kit", American breakfast for two, overnight valet parking, complimentary internet and access to Sports Club/LA fitness center connected to the hotel. Rates start at $354 a night and the package is available through August 31st.

· W HOTELS: W has partnered with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the largest civil rights organization working for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. The exclusive HRC Pride 365 package is now available at W Hotels & Retreats across the US and includes the following: a Fabulous Room, triple Starpoints to use toward future stays, one-year membership to HRC and a $10 donation to HRC to support equality. W Hotels and Human Rights Campaign will also host various events and galas throughout the year including VIP dinners in top regional markets, auction packages to some of W’s newly renovated properties in San Diego, New Orleans – French Quarter, Seattle, and more. Guests can book online or call 877 782 0104 and mention rate plan WHHR.

· HILTON HOTELS IN SAN FRANCISCO: The city's Pride Parade this weekend is sure to be crazy given today's defining decision. If you're headed to the city by the bay, then book Hilton's GO OUT package which gets you free internet, a free one-year digital subscription to OUT magazine, two free welcome beverages and late checkout, where and when available. The Fisherman's Wharf property is sold-out but the Hilton in the Financial District is available for $254 a night while the Union Square property is $384.

· PREFERRED HOTELS: The posh hotel collection's Preferred Pride program is now in its third year, with more than 160 participating hotels across the globe. This year's Preferred Pride package, available through December 31, 2013, features the best available rate and a special property-specific amenity which ranges from a 30-minute massage, to free WiFi and a bottle of wine.
