Rather than rehabilitate a structure with a strong heritage that’s seen better days, bringing Ace Hotel London to fruition involves re-envisioning a contemporary space that was inherently aesthetically-challenged — built without a strong sense of what or where it is, or who the neighbors are — and creating the kind of meeting space this dynamic this dynamic neighborhood and its visitors deserve. We're proud to have the chance.
There's not much else to go on but judging from the job openings, the property will have a restaurant and a coffee shop, which are Ace staples. Will Stumptown make the jump across the pond or will Ace seek out something more homegrown to England? We're not quite sure.
We're also not quite sure when the Ace will take over. Right now, we could still book rooms at the Crowne Plaza in July.
Given that Ace expects the makeover to be a challenge, we'll put this one on the books for sometime in late 2014. UPDATE: the hotel will actually open in September. Aces!
