Those who want to get in on the action can at Villa Le Rose in Tuscany, part of the Ferragamo family-owned Lungarno Collection. They let you hop in the villa’s jeep and go on a private hunting excursion – just you, your experienced guides and firearms. The lot of you will troll the area for three hours looking for game including wild boar and pheasant. The catch of the day can then be taken back and prepared for you by the villa’s private chef. Watch out for the buckshot.
The Executive Chef at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa’s Augustine Grill in Ponte Vedra, Florida (close to Jacksonville) has a liking for locally sourced meats and that includes wild game. If you’re in the mood for BBQ, tie on a bib and dig in to the Alligator Tail with Datil Pepper BBQ Sauce. Note that this is a seasonal dish so try not to be too disappointed if the 'gator isn’t a go.
Hotel Madeline Telluride in Colorado offers menus in its REV restaurant and SMAK Bar (mentioned in our What’s Out, What’s In Liquid Diets piece for their awesome Bloody Mary with cheeseburger slider) that include wild game and foraged ingredients. You can get in the game (yeah, we said it again!) with their Elk Strip Steak and Red Necked Pheasant in Rev or Duck Lettuce Wraps and Colorado Buffalo Burgers in SMAK Bar.
