The private terminal, located at Gan International Airport in Addu Atoll, has two lounges (arrival and departure) and a VIP room for those extra-special guests. The arrivals lounge is particularly sweet because it offers guests one-stop immigration, customs and baggage screening services.
If you have the wherewithal to fly your own private jet to the Maldives, and you’re checking into the five-star Shangri-La Villingili, you may as well go the distance and book the resort’s “Private Jet Experience.” With this baby you get to call one of the presidential villas (over 10,000 sq ft) your home for a few days; have champagne waiting for you when you arrive; be greeted by a dedicated butler; succumb daily to a massage at the spa; carry around a personal mobile phone and iPod; and enjoy the bespoke “Dine By Design” experience daily in one of the resort’s secret locations.
After all that, it's time to speed(boat) your way back to the terminal and fly into the sunset.
Rates for the Private Jet Experience (not including the use of a private jet, of course, although that can certainly be arranged) start at $2,484 if you book a Beach Villa and go up from there. If you can't shell out for the Private Jet Experience, rates for a Pool Villa in June (a not-to-be-sneered at 1,400 sq ft) will run you $750 per night including breakfast, Internet and an iPod to use.
