The Sunset Marquis Opens Its Rock Star Pools to Non-Guests

Earlier this week, we talked about all the good things coming (fingers crossed!) to downtown Los Angeles. Today we've got a round-up of some cool new things happening in Los Angeles proper, starting off with this West Hollywood hideout.

SUNSET MARQUIS: The rock star haven that is the Sunset Marquis (the hotel hosted 43 Grammy nominees this year) has begun offering a pool membership for non-guests that will allow use of the hotel's main pool and villa pools along with some other perks like a complimentary one-night stay, a Sunday brunch, drinks at the restaurant or 1200 bar, discounted cabana rentals and discounted spa treatments. The cost for a one-year member ship is $2,000 while a six-month membership can be had for $1,500. Membership is based on availability and the hotel only gives out 20 at a time. If you're not interested in joining, you can pay around $250 a night as a hotel guest and use the pool for free.

CRESCENT BEVERLY HILLS: This boutique spot in the heart of Beverly Hills (just a few blocks off Rodeo Drive) is finishing up a property-wide renovation that includes the 35 guest rooms, the public spaces and the lobby lounge. Don't worry, they haven't taken away the free WiFi. In fact, the hotel has upped their tech-y amenities by offering iPads and Macbooks for guests to checkout during their stay. Best of all, room rates are totally affordable starting at $159 for a Petite Queen and $249 for a Grand King.

LOEWS SANTA MONICA: When we rolled by this Santa Monica beachfront hotel in early January, major work was still happening on the Loews' facade. Yet two months later, things looked rather impressive. Here's a snapshot from two weeks ago. And here's how the hotel used to look. Much improved, no? Rates for the hotel are around $300 a night, but always much higher when the warm weather rolls in.

MONTAGE BEVERLY HILLS: The stylist employed by this swank Beverly Hills hotel takes his job very seriously. We got a copy of the fashion consultation form fromJoseph Katz, the hotel's in-house fashion stylist, and it is intensely thorough. This is just one of 16 style questions he asks! After you've filled it out (you also have to list your sizes), Katz will analyze it and then take you along on a customized shopping excursion. Or if you're too busy, he can do the job for you instead. The consultation is complimentary but alas, those new clothes are not. Room rates start around $495 a night.
