After striking out in Miami and long after ditching plans for an LA location, Gansevoort Hotels has landed in a pretty spectacular place--Las Vegas. Specifically, the old Bill's Gambling Hall on the Las Vegas Strip.

On Friday, it was announced that Caesars Entertainment, the parent company of Caesars Palace, Paris Bally's, Bill's and a bunch of other casino hotels, would be turning Bill's into the Gansevoort Las Vegas. USA Today reported:

The Old West-style casino hotel, which closed last month, will reopen in January as the Gansevoort Las Vegas, with rates starting at $249 a night. The building's currently in the midst of a $185 million renovation that will transform the guest rooms, casino space, restaurants and public areas into stylish, upscale spaces.

In typical Gansevoort fashion, the Gansevoort Las Vegas will have a killer rooftop with 65,000-sq.ft of partying room , complete with pools, cabanas and even a concert space. Additionally, Drai's nightclub which was one of the biggest draws to Bill's, will still be open in the hotel, yet it will move downstairs to its original basement space. Victor Drai, the legendary Vegas nightclub manager, will also manage the Gansevoort Las Vegas' pool deck. (We just hope they have a better policy for accepting hotel guests than the Drai's over at the W Hotel in Hollywood.)

We were rather shocked to hear this bit of news, mainly because it was so unexpected. As always, we will cautiously watch how this unfolds. With boutique hotels in Vegas, we've definitely learned to manage our expectations. Yet it seems to be a bona fide trend. After all, SLS Las Vegas is expected to open in 2014 as well as Delano Las Vegas inside the Mandalay Bay. So the Gansevoort should fit right in. That is, if it happens.
