Due to finally close at the end of this month for a two-year overhaul, the Crillon is yet another exit of Concorde Hotels, previously raided by Hyatt and The Set. According to a report in Les Echos (in French), Rosewood beat competition from Accor (a French group no less), which wanted to turn the Crillon into a Sofitel The Legend property.
Very much like the Ritz, the Crillon is taking some serious time out to revamp its 147 rooms and suites, given the number of new hyper-luxury hotels that have come to the city of light, including the Shangri-La, Mandarin Oriental, and later this year, the Peninsula. We’ll have to wait and see until 2015 how this grande dame will measure up once the dust has settled and the paint has dried. Whatever happens, we'll keep you posted.
