Here's the problem. Palm Springs isn't exactly a city we'd think appropriate for a Hard Rock. There's a quirky, eclectic charm to Palm Springs that Hard Rock does not have at all. For lack of a more appropriate word, they skew towards the douchetastic. Palm Springs already has that with The Riviera (and The Ace sometimes), thank you very much.
Of course that's not stopping them when there's money to be made in Palm Springs. The transition from the Zoso to the Hard Rock is due to wrap up this fall.
All of this having been said, the Zoso is in need of a revamp. It's kind of a "meh" place to stay for the nightly rate they charge ($130ish), considering Palm Springs is a relatively inexpensive destination for cool hotels. We suppose we'll just wait and see what the Hard Rock has in store for this second outpost in California, after their San Diego location.
