Hard to believe, but baseball is back with spring training under way down South. Florida is hosting its half of the action as well, but the unique thing about the scene in Phoenix is how close all the teams are (see map comparing Arizona and Florida facilities). Not only does this mean lots of options for games, it also means lots of hotel choices. And seeing as this is one of the best times of the year to visit the southwest weather wise, it's time to check in on some of the hotel discounts and packages happening in the desert that will help make your childhood dream of jet-setting down to spring training a bit more feasible:

Hotel Palomar: This Kimpton property is offering the "Batter Up" package that gets you 25% off the best available rate, two local beers, a baseball-themed welcome treat, and complimentary access to Gold's Gym Elite in case you want to hold your own spring training.

The Westin Phoenix Downtown: The 2013 Baseball Package has rates starting at $189/night Thursday through Sunday -- nice for a long weekend trip. It includes overnight parking, high speed internet access, and baseball “snack pack” amenities (there better be some Cracker Jacks!).

Royal Palms Resort & Spa: The Royal Palms will give you the third night free when you book two during spring training.

Montelucia Resort & Spa: This hotel is centrally located in Scottsdale, which means plenty of nightlife options as well as easy access to many of the stadiums. The Homerun Package will get you a fourth night free when you book three nights as well as a $50 credit to Centro Lounge.

Talking Stick Resort: Spring Training rates for any of the resort’s luxury guestrooms and suites start at $229 nightly (no resort fees, either). You can also purchase game tickets when making your reservation. They also provides free shuttle transportation to and from nearby Salt River Fields for hotel guests.
