If you are ever in need of inspiration for a memorable way to treat yourself or a loved one, our Fantasy Friday archives are fast becoming a treasure trove of hotel extravagance, from a small but pricey cupcake to the understandably much more substantial world’s most expensive suite.

Today’s dream contender comes courtesy of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, where a cool £14,500 (roughly $22,000) will get you a stay in the hotel’s Royal Suite as well as fancy jewelry and personalized perfume.

The Mandarin’s Royal Suite is a three-bedroom apartment that spreads out over 2,600 square feet, including a vast balcony that comfortably hosts 40 overlooking Hyde Park, so close you could almost lean out and touch the trees. When you arrive, the Annoushka Mythology 18ct yellow gold and diamond alphabet pendant will be waiting for you in your chosen initial – famous names that have worn the pendant (it retails for £395 / $600) include Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna.

A visit to perfumer Ormonde Jayne’s flagship store on Sloane Square is next for a ‘Perfume Portrait’, smelling single notes to help create your personal scent, which you will take with you in a hand-blown flacon with engraved gold stopper. Breakfast the next day isn't mentioned specifically, but we're hoping that's thrown in with the price.
