It's Now Snowing at The Hyatt Regency San Francisco
The world is officially in "Countdown to Christmas" mode and now, so are we. Every day until Christmas we'll be featuring a hotel that's in a holiday mood--whether it be with gigantic gingerbread houses, over-the-top Christmas decorations, thrilling lighting displays and best of all, Santa appearances. But of course, any hotel can assemble a fake tree, put on some lights and declare themselves "festive." Which is why we're looking at hotels that are really going ALL OUT. Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!
We knew it was snowing on the East Coast but in San Francisco? What's that about?
Well, once again, The Hyatt Regency San Francisco has transformed its lobby, one of the largest in the world, into a virtual, over-sized “snow globe” with 30,000 lights that cascade down the hotel's 17-story atrium, a 30-foot Christmas tree and best of all, daily snowfall.
The snow falls daily at different times throughout the day (see below) which is sure to delight the children (and adults) of the world who don't usually see snow. For the snow-weary folks, don't worry, the snow will only "fall" until December 30th.
Also happening at the hotel is the legendary Snow Village disply which showcases over 1,000 pieces of holiday-inspired collectibles. Santa Claus will even make appearances on the weekends leading up to Christmas at the Eclipse restaurant's brunch. Remaining dates for the appearances are December 14, 15, 21 and 22. The cost is $28 for adults and $14 for children 4-12 (younger than 4 is free!)
Lastly, the hotel has taken good care to include grown-ups in their holiday festivities, offering a a special holiday happy hour at the Eclipse lounge from 4:30-6:30pm featuring holiday inspired cocktails, at special holiday prices.
If you want to make a night of it, the hotel is offering a Holiday Destination Room Package from now through January 5th, starting at $204 a night that includes two adult ice skating tickets at the adjacent Holiday Ice Skating Rink, two adult MUNI transportation passes, an Embarcadero Center retailer discount shopping book and an offer to buy one breakfast at the Eclipse lounge and get the second half off.
Monday-Friday: 4:30pm and 6:30pm
