Hôtel Plaza Athénée Has the Snuggliest Christmas Tree
The world is officially in "Countdown to Christmas" mode and now, so are we. Every day until Christmas we'll be featuring a hotel that's in a holiday mood--whether it be with gigantic gingerbread houses, over-the-top Christmas decorations, thrilling lighting displays or best of all, Santa appearances. But of course, any hotel can assemble a fake tree, put on some lights and declare themselves "festive." Which is why we're looking at hotels that are really going ALL OUT. Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!
This year we've seen Christmas trees decorated with wine bottles, macarons and umbrellas, but here comes a late contender for most over-the-top tree of 2013: it's a Babar the Elephant tree.
The Hôtel Plaza Athénée New York is celebrating not just the holidays, but also the 80th anniversary of the cartoon elephant's first appearance in the United States by covering its tree with 100 plush toys that will be donated to children in need on January 1.
The hotel will also be hosting a special “Tea time with Babar” on December 28 between 3-5 p.m., with a drawing contest that awards the winner with an autographed Babar book. Young attendees and their families will also have the opportunity to pose for a souvenir photo alongside the Babar costume character on-site. The event is $39 for children and $45 for adults.
