Back in September when we first heard that Rodrigo Nino of New York real-estate company, Prodigy Network was planning to crowdfund a hotel, we knew very little of what to expect beyond its description on the company's website as "an innovative micro-living glass tower, one block away from the World Trade Center."

Late last week Curbed tipped us off to some new renderings that bring the project out of the extended-stay hotel category mehs and into the fancy design hotel category yays.

The Art Deco building at 17 John Street will be converted and capped with an eight-story postmodernist glass topper by renowned architect Winka Dubbeldam. The glass topper will, according to video at Prodigy Network's site, be "a glowing crystal in the sky."

The building will rise to 23 stories when completed, and have 191 units including studio and one- and two-bedroom apartments. The company is also converting a former New School dorm at 84 William Street into a residential building named AKA Wall Street.
