The redesign aimed to take inspiration from Hyde Park, which, if you are staying on the right side of the building (and high up enough), you will have a view of from your bedroom window. The walls in the lounge, pictured above, feature hand-painted and embroidered magnolia trees.
If you’re not familiar with the hotel and wondering about the room’s circular shape, also recognizable in the shot of the lobby below, there is a reason for it: the hotel itself is a circular structure, creating quite the contrast with the traditional mansions of Knightsbridge surrounding it.
The light marble and use of silver makes for an icy cool look, which again contrasts with the design in Hyde Bar (no relation), with creamy leather seating and dark wood. There is a full humidor for its collection of cigars, and the bar specializes in whiskey. A new terrace has been added too.
The Park Tower has 280 rooms, including 22 suites. Panoramic Rooms, which offer the best views, start from around £400 ($650) in December.
