UPDATE: A rep reached out to us to say this: "we are still projecting a Q1 opening, although a firm date has not been announced. Our current booking date is conservative by design and will most certainly be moved up as the hotel’s completion date is finalized."

It's been a while since we last checked in on Archer Hotel, one of the many upcoming Garment District hotels, so, when we walked by the other evening, we were pleased to see it had emerged from underneath the scaffolding that had been up all summer.

Archer's website is still saying it will be open in "early 2014," but, when we tried to make a reservation, it was showing no availability until June 3 when the best available rate is $464.22 -- a very loose interpretation of "early." That price will get you a king size platform bed, floor-to-ceiling windows, wood floors, exposed brick and custom furnishings, Frette towels and bathrobe plus NY apothecary Malin + Goetz bath amenities. Complimentary WiFi, 42" HDTV with150 TV channels, Nespresso machine, and Burke in the Box room service. A Double-Double Empire View room on the same night will cost you $518.73.

We already told you about the different bedroom design palettes and David Burke-helmed restaurant, but we are now intrigued to learn that the hotel will be featuring specially commissioned art and a 21st-floor rooftop bar with "all-season spaces." We're looking forward to meeting this mysterious Mr. Archer.
