You Can Now Book a Hotel Room Through Twitter with Loews Hotels

Loews Hotels is trying something new with their Twitter pages--allowing guests to book their stays directly through Twitter.

Many hotels have long been offering reservations through Facebook for a few years now but Twitter has never really been done before. Here's how Loews is pioneering this new social reservations tool:

Simply use the hashtag #BookLoews in a tweet to @Loews_Hotels that says where you want to stay and you'll be connected by a Loews Travel Planner to start a Twitter conversation. Once you're ready to book your stay, the Travel Planner will tweet you a link to a secure chat conversation to take your credit card and billing info in a secure, PCI-compliant digital environment. Other than that, you never have to leave Twitter to book your hotel room. This is the future, kids! (One thing to note: The Loews Orlando hotels are not bookable through Twitter.)

Now we're pretty cautious about how we book a hotel room, especially for a new hotel. We like to check out the hotel's site and comparison shop on a few other sites. But we can totally see this Twitter reservations thing being great for folks who stay at Loews Hotels on the regular. And no doubt, we fully expect other hotel brands to follow suite.

Need some prodding to make your Loews reservation through Twitter? Loews is offering the first 140 Twitter users who book a room with this tool a discounted rate of just $140 a night. We say use it for either the Loews Regency Hotel in NYC which is reopening in January or Loews Santa Monica Beach. Don't forget the hashtag #BookLoews!

If you end up booking your room this way, let us know how it went!.

Should You Book Through Twitter?

The idea of booking a hotel through Twitter is novel and interesting. However, for individuals who are looking for the most cost-effective hotel option, the best way remains the meta-search sites. I recently found a good one that has helped me save up to 70% on room rates while, at the same time, eliminating a lot of time-consuming search efforts and frustration. At SelectReservation one simply enters the destination and preferred dates of stay. The site instantly searches all major hotel booking sites and lists all hotels at the desired location, along with with the lowest rates available for each. One can then select and book with ease.

Booking Through Twitter Is Interesting

Booking through Twitter probably is the future. I'm still getting used to the hotel sites that compare hotel rooms across many different hotel site aggregators. I find the best deals for me personally at either Expedia or BookingHotelStay.com Saved a lot there on my last Vegas vacation.
