Everything Might Not Be All In, But Things Are Up and Running at The Quin
Update 11.13.13: The digital art wall is now live!
At exactly 11:11 on 11/11 The Quin opened its doors at last. (So much for that planned October 21st opening.)
As is often the case, not quite everything is up and running yet. There are a few rooms still being worked on, the 15-foot digital art wall is not yet live (though looks pretty cool as is, IOO), and the Wayfarer restaurant is not open (but will be, hopefully in about two weeks -- room service, thankfully, is available).
Nevertheless, we stopped by for a peek on opening afternoon and watched as the lobby steadily filled up with arriving guests -- we were told occupancy rates for opening week were high. And indeed, for a random Tuesday in November (today), rates are $499 a night. Normally, they will be even higher at $599 a night. Fortunately, that includes WiFi and a bunch of other goodies. Keep reading to find out what those are.
We already peeped a premier suite back in August, so this time we had a look at a 375-square-foot premier guest room.
As well as a heavenly Duxiana bed clad in Sferra linens, all rooms come with Nespresso machines, Evolve Guest Controls that control lighting, temperature and music, Fresh Spa products in the bathroom and Samsung LED HD televisions. This much we already know, but what blew us away were the extra touches: like the distinctive harley-Quin artwork on the slippers and umbrella, and something called a Bergdorf Goodman Vitrine; an in-room menu of luxury items available to buy in the hotel. Need a $35 Tom Ford nail polish but don't want to have to walk to the store to buy it? No problem, someone will bring it up to the room for you. There it is in a glass case in the lobby:
