Sure enough, it's the very same as the place we reported on back in August, and the timing is in sync with this Travel Weekly interview with BD Hotels' Richard Born, where he says:
We're also going to be at 42nd Street and Ninth Avenue, where Times Square is going to meet Hudson Yards. That's a big hotel: over 600 rooms. We're also planning on breaking ground there by year-end. That'll probably open up the beginning of 2016.
Further digging reveals that plans for 400 West 42nd Street are being developed by the Friedman Group and Landis Group, who told The Real Deal back in February that they plan to build a 28-story tower with "140-square-foot hotel rooms with a targeted price of $225 per night. The building will also have 38 larger extended-stay hotel units, as well as 25,000 square feet of retail" space. (Note: the more recent report says 40 stories.)
But, wait, the plot thickens. While searching for the address, we came across this page from Trump International Realty, listing the site as under condo ownership. Now we are very confused. If you can enlighten us, please do: tips [at] hotelchatter.com
