As for design, Andaz hired native Costa Rican architect Ronald Zurcher who has "imagined a gathering of animals and used the shapes of cocoons and shells for the hotel's facilities...to stimulate the senses of guests in new and refreshing ways." Much of the hotel is also a free-flowing and is typical Andaz fashion there is no check-in desk but rather an open-air lobby and a personal check-in.
The guests rooms all are designed to blend in with the natural surroundings with woven textiles, solid woods and carved artifacts from Costa Rica. All rooms have balconies with killer views of the bay (above) and if you really want to splurge, four of the luxury suites will have their own plunge pools while the Presidential Suite will offer a private, full-sized pool. And yes, the WiFi is free as is the minibar and the upscale bath products from local artisans. Pura Vida indeed.
Rates start at $700 a night on December 20th for an Andaz King room. Yes, $700. We thought that might be a mistake but we're seeing this price on other booking sites as well. Stay tuned for word of hopeful price drop closer to opening.
