Viceroy Admits NYC Hotel is Set For September
In what can only be described as a "put a ring on it" situation of the hotel variety, it seems that Viceroy Hotels has finally done that when it comes to the New York property that just months ago, they wouldn't confirm or deny would be a reality.
Well, just like a Facebook relationship, you can't rush any status changes until the right moment (although the New York Times almost spilled the beans) , and the luxury hotel group recently announced on its website that it's newest property, the Viceroy New York, will open in September on West 57th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.
When we went to a press conference back in October, Viceroy CEO Bill Walshe, was more coy about any hotel plans, leaving us all feeling teased. But in the press release statement the other day, the tone is decidedly more confident--like that of a man who decided "yes, she's the one!" after having and long talk with himself.
“The New York market has been waiting for the Viceroy name for some time, and we have wanted to be there” commented Bill Walshe, CEO of Viceroy Hotel Group. “Our first Viceroy branded hotel in the city has to be exceptional, and this development is quite simply perfect. This is a hotel that will stand apart from its competitors; it will be incredible”.
So, there you go. Commitment. The Roman and Williams designed façade of the 240-room, 29-story hotel with modern elements using black brick and steel. The plan is also to have a rooftop restaurant in addition to a signature restaurant located off the lobby fronting 57th Street.
Naturally we'll keep our ears open and eyes peeled as building starts and keep you posted every step of the way!
